Our 5th grade class has been learning about impact craters and meteors in Science class. Today, they experimented to test their theories about how the diameter of a meteor might impact the size of the crater. They used baking ingredients, like cocoa powder, flour, and sprinkles to represent the layers of Earth’s surface and clay spheres to represent different sized meteors. The students loved this experiment and might have even had some of the cocoa powder ejecta rays collide with their clothes.
