Congratulations to Miss Ava Isaacs for being the 2020-2021 Daughter’s of The American Revolution award recipient for Thompsonville High School. Ava was selected for this award by her teachers and moves on to the scholarship round of the contest. Great job Ava!

Just a reminder that tomorrow, October 30 is a Teacher Institute day and there will be no remote learning. Also, school is not in session Tuesday, November 3 (Election Day) for either in person learning or remote learning. Illinois has designated Election Day as a state holiday.

Do not let yourself get too excited about basketball. We know the IHSA made a statement today that they are going to allow basketball to go along as scheduled. There are a lot of things that will need to happen in order for the season to start on time. IHSA just took the liability off of themselves and put it on the schools.

If anyone is interested in subbing in our kitchen please contact Debbie Hearn at 618 627-2031. This position could lead to part time or more once we are back to normal. Thank You!

A few announcements about upcoming pictures from Mrs. Bowman: Fall sport pictures (GS Baseball, GS Softball, HS Cross-Country) will be taken on November 5, 2020 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Students will needs to bring their uniforms for these pictures. Fall Individual Pictures for both GS and HS will be taken on December 1, 2020 beginning at 8:30 a.m. All remote learners will be asked to come in and be here by 8:30 a.m. so they can have their picture taken with their grade level. There will be no makeup date if student pictures are not taken on December 1st. Please contact Mrs. Bowman with questions you have regarding any school pictures.

Until further notice there will be no cheerleading or basketball practices. Starting October the 22nd.

Friday, October 30 is a Teacher's Institute Day. There will be no remote learning on Friday, October 30.

After further discussion between teachers and administration we have made the decision that siblings of quarantined students, who have not tested positive for Covid, will be allowed to come back to school on Monday October 26th. As long as no one in the household is exhibiting symptoms or has tested positive for Covid.

As of 10/22/20 HS boys basketball practice is cancelled until further notice.

Just a reminder that report cards will be sent home today with in person learners and will be mailed to remote learners. Parent Teacher Conferences are next Tuesday, October 27 and Thursday, October 29 from 3:00-6:00. Please contact Mrs. Bowman in the main office at 618-627-2301 to make an appointment.

Just a reminder that there are several students in each grade requiring things to attend school. This year we have been a little more lenient on these requirements being turned in due to COVID. We will need to have these turned in ASAP at this point to keep your student in school since it looks like we will stay in attendance for the remainder of school, if all goes well! If you have any question on if your student is missing anything please feel free to contact the nurses office. She will be making home calls and sending out notes as well.

Parents/Guardians. We need the self certification sheet signed everyday. Tomorrow we will stop allowing students in the building who do not have this signed and with them. We are sorry for the inconvenience of this, but it is something that we need to do.

JH boys and girls basketball will start open gyms this week. Any 5th-8th grade student interested in playing basketball may attend. Girls - Tuesday & Thursday 3-4 pm Boys - Wednesday & Friday 3-4:30 • You must get a parent consent form from the office. It has to be turned into the coach before you can participate. •Masks are mandatory. •Bring your own water bottle.

Our poetry book has arrived! The book will be on display during Parent Teacher Conferences in the hallway by the library if you would like to read the poetry by our published poets!

Come out tomorrow and support the Thompsonville/Akin Softball team. We play Pinckneyville Grade School at 4pm at Pinckneyville.
