Gretta Browning is our next Where Are They Now Alumni. She graduated in 1983.
I graduated from Thompsonville High School in 1983.
I wasn't really sure what to choose for my career path so I received an Associates of Arts and Science from Rend Lake College, also I cheered for the Rend Lake Warriors which was a lot of fun.
In 1988 I graduated with an Associate Degree in Nursing and after graduation married my husband Mike with whom I had two wonderful children who we are very proud of - Jordan and Courtney. I worked at Marion Memorial Hospital for 12 years (Currently Heartland Regional).
I have been working for the past 25 years at Southern Illinois Dermatology where my position is the Director of Nursing. One of my many duties is interviewing, hiring, and training our new nurses.
I love spending time with my family and especially my 4 grandchildren- #5 is due in May!
I have many fond memories of high school, spending time with friends, band, all the sports I participated in, but probably my favorites were cheerleading and band.
Thank You Gretta for taking the time to do this. Thompsonville Schools is proud of you!

Just a reminder that Friday the 30th of April is a teachers inservice and there will be no student attendance.

Today 5th grade students were visited by Mr. Odle and Mr. Newman from the CTE/ROE program for a STEM lesson. The students learned to create an electrical circuit and had a great time!

There is no school for students this Friday, April 30. This is a teacher in-service day.

Updates on Graduation! 8th Grade Graduation will be on Wednesday, May 19 at 5:30 p.m. in Memorial Gymnasium. High School Graduation will be at 7:00 on this same date and will also be in Memorial Gymnasium.
We are doing our best to allow as many guests as possible while still adhering to the regulations regarding space we must follow. Each graduate will be allowed immediate family (parents, siblings, grandparents) to attend. In addition, there may be room for additional guests to attend. For questions regarding additional guests, please contact the school.
Both ceremonies will also be live streamed on the school's Facebook page.

Congratulations to John Gregory Fisher for passing all his multiplication facts. I'm so proud of him!

Congratulations to the Thompsonville FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team for placing 1st in Section 21, 2nd place in District 5 and qualifying for the state contest. Good luck at the state competition in Springfield on May 15th!

Julie Douglas (Lampley) is our next Where Are They Now Alumni. She graduated in 1995.
After graduating Thompsonville High School as valedictorian in 1995, I enrolled at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. I was named one of the top 25 Most Distinguished Seniors in 1999, graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with microbiology, physics, and chemistry minors. I subsequently completed my Master of Science degree in Biology, focusing on neurobiology, cell growth and nerve regeneration with the assistance of Scanning and Transmission Electron microscopy. Unfortunately, I grew weary in a laboratory, and teaching was not for me! I returned to SIU, completing the Physician Assistant program in 2006. I immediately joined an orthopedic surgery practice, and later transitioned to internal medicine. After 10 years with a local hospital, I left a thriving internal medicine practice. I am currently employed by the Veteran’s Health Administration, striving to better the health and meet the needs of our nation’s heroes.
I am currently in the process of applying to SIU’s Doctorate program, in hopes of continuing my education.
I am thankful every day for the preparation by Mr. Womack! He taught me to think outside the box, and always be on my toes! I miss the days of cheerleading, volleyball, and softball (and all my amazing coaches)– I am currently reliving sports through my daughter! I cherish the relationships and experiences of growing up in a small town.
I currently reside in Mt. Vernon, IL, with my husband Kyle and daughter Kylie.
