Julie Douglas (Lampley) is our next Where Are They Now Alumni. She graduated in 1995.
After graduating Thompsonville High School as valedictorian in 1995, I enrolled at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. I was named one of the top 25 Most Distinguished Seniors in 1999, graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with microbiology, physics, and chemistry minors. I subsequently completed my Master of Science degree in Biology, focusing on neurobiology, cell growth and nerve regeneration with the assistance of Scanning and Transmission Electron microscopy. Unfortunately, I grew weary in a laboratory, and teaching was not for me! I returned to SIU, completing the Physician Assistant program in 2006. I immediately joined an orthopedic surgery practice, and later transitioned to internal medicine. After 10 years with a local hospital, I left a thriving internal medicine practice. I am currently employed by the Veteran’s Health Administration, striving to better the health and meet the needs of our nation’s heroes.
I am currently in the process of applying to SIU’s Doctorate program, in hopes of continuing my education.
I am thankful every day for the preparation by Mr. Womack! He taught me to think outside the box, and always be on my toes! I miss the days of cheerleading, volleyball, and softball (and all my amazing coaches)– I am currently reliving sports through my daughter! I cherish the relationships and experiences of growing up in a small town.
I currently reside in Mt. Vernon, IL, with my husband Kyle and daughter Kylie.
Mr. Warren, Words can not express what you have meant for this school, community, and most important the students of this school. Thompsonville will never be able to repay you the amount of time and energy that you put into it. We where blessed to have you and your lasting impression on this district and its current and former students. You will always be welcome here and you are going to be missed greatly. Thompsonville Schools wishes you nothing but the best in retirement. You and Cindy will always be family here and hope you both come and visit as much as possible.
Just a reminder that tomorrow, Friday, April 23 is no longer an 11:30 dismissal day. School will dismiss at the regular time of 12:00.
This is a reminder that due to COVID restrictions students are only allowed to ride the bus that they are assigned to. At this time we cannot have additional riders on the buses.

Today, April 21, is National Kindergarten Day. We want to give a shout-out to our outstanding Kindergarten teacher, Miranda Wissinger. Thank you Mrs. Wissinger for all you do for our students!

The open gym previously scheduled for 4/23 is cancelled.
Seniors! For the senior video, we are in need of pictures of the Class of 2021 throughout your school years. Please bring a minimum of ten photos and deliver to either Kameryn Harris or Alexis McFarland. We are needing to get the photos in ASAP so we can get the video done.

May 17th will be Freshman Orientation in the New Gym at the school. This is for 8th graders who are going to be freshman. It will start at 5:30p. 8th graders along with parents/guardians need to attend.

April 27th will be the deadline to buy homecoming/prom tickets.
Attention Juniors! Illinois is requiring all 11th grade students to take the Illinois Science Assessment this year. Testing will be this Thursday, April 22 and will begin at 8:00. All in-person and remote learners are required to take this assessment. If you are a remote learner and are unable to attend this Thursday, please contact Ms. Chiaventone to make arrangements to come in and test.
Attention 5th grade parents,
There are books for all 5th grade students who will be remote learning for the coming week located at the table at the front of the building. There is a copy of the book “Wonder,” which we are beginning a novel study on this week. Students will need this book daily for the upcoming weeks. Some students left their math book’s at school over the weekend, and those are at the front desk as well. Please only pick up the book(s) with your students name on them.

We have had a 5th grade student test positive for COVID. All students who need to quarantine have been contacted by the school. Of course, if you feel like you want to quarantine your student you are welcome to do that as well. We will have the school cleaned and ready to go by Monday.
4th grade’s last Titanic experiment was a fun one! Each student got a sheet of aluminum foil and used it to design their own boat. I put their ship to the test by dropping in marbles one at a time. Our winner held 110 marbles!
