Grade school read the book “If I Built a House” and built their very own design out of cardboard boxes.🏠 We then read “If I Built a School” and students drew what their dream school would look like. (A lot of students are hoping for a zipline on the playground.😂) We ended the day reading “Perfect Square”, discussing all the shapes, and making shapes with Play-Doh. 🔺🔸▪️

🌎🚀🌖We wrapped up our first week of Middle School Summer Camp by shooting off rockets we created in the gym. We experimented with the angle to get the longest path. Most of our rockets traveled past the half court line! Mrs. McFarland had to try it out too! We experimented with creating beautiful "tie-dye" planets by working with shaving cream and paint.

🔭🛰️🚀Our lunar module landings! Some of our "astronauts" survived, but others bounced right out! The students certainly let their creativity soar!

🌟💫🌟Wednesday's Middle School Summer Camp was stellar! We made a constellation guide for summer stargazing. Constellations were recreated from toothpicks and marshmallows (somehow the marshmallows kept disappearing!). We created our own version of a lunar lander and TRIED to keep our "astronauts" inside. We didn't get a picture, but we also made asteroid cookies!

Grade school summer camp students learned all about Edwin Binney and how he created the Crayola crayons. We read the book “The Crayola Man” and students were challenged to make a crayon box out of only 2 pieces of construction paper and 3 feet of tape that would be strong enough to hold a 24 pack of crayons. All of the groups were successful! We ended the day reading the book “Splatter”. Students made their own splatter art with watercolor paint! 🎨🖍️

Middle School Summer Camp went on a Mission to Mars today! We created our own Mars Rovers and tried our hand at guiding a rover mission. (We need more work with that!) Tomorrow we will go to the moon!

Summer camp started today! K-4 designed their very own aquariums for their goldfish after reading the books "Goldfish on Vacation" and "Made by Maxine". Students also went fishing to solve addition and subtraction problems. We ended the day playing with building blocks and magnetic blocks. 🎣
